thE wARM-UP. Starting March 15
IT'S 2021.
THE WORLD OF LIVE PERFORMANCE WILL REOPEN SOON.
WHEN IT DOES, WE WANNA BE WARM.
The Warm-Up is the Burrough's way to foster a safe space for Black professionals to network, train, and be ready for the live performing arts industry to return as a collective. In the coming months, many of us will be auditioning for work, returning to contracts, and/or starting creative projects of our own--all of which requires preparation and a strong warm-up of our throats, legs, and acting chops after spending North of a year (and counting) in a quarantine.
This professional training program will consist of classes that participants will have the opportunity to take and/or teach for and with fellow black performing artists. A weekly workshop may be included for preparing songs and cuts from our books with our colleagues to help people who will be attending upcoming auditions.
The Warm-Up will begin on March 15th at Ripley Grier Studios in New York City (specific details on the location are coming soon). There is a virtual option for all of our classes which will be available to stream on The Burrough website. Whether in-person or online, the Burrough will only ask participants for $5 a day to help pay our teachers and reserve our room, nothing more. If you think you might be interested in taking class and/or teaching for The Warm-Up, please fill out this interest form, which will help solidify our schedule.
We are still surviving a global pandemic. Our logistics and guidelines for Covid thoughtfully detail the plan to maximize the safety of all participants.
